Problem
Error codes 3001, 3002, 3003, 3004
Solution
The diagnostic procedure can also be used to trouble shoot the other possible error codes.
If problems are still present after the voltage adjustment, test the system.
The system connects to four different connectors in the TCU controller as shown.
1. With the key ON, test for 12v at pin 3 wire 142M-R of connector 164. If no voltage is present check fuse 46. This fuse also powers the fuel sender and switched 12v at the auxiliary power outlets.
2. If 12v is present in step 1 move the negative lead of the voltmeter to pin 7, wire 557N and then pin 8 557L. Voltage should appear during both tests. If no voltage is measured check the ground circuit back to the TCU controller, connector 353 (CN2-A) wire 557A.
3. Test 5 Volt Supply at terminal 4 wire 942A of connector 160. If voltage is not present, test the circuit to Pin 8 wire 561D of the TCU connector 350M (CN1-A). If 5v is not present at the TCU swap the TCU and retest.
4. Test the position potentiometer. Connect a voltmeter between terminal 2 of connector 160 wire 944A and ground, wire 557L pin 8, as the lever is rotated the voltage value should move smoothly from 0.55v to 4.15v. If it does not, replace the potentiometer.
5. Test the idle switch. Connect the voltmeter between pin 6 of connector 160 wire 945A and ground wire 557L pin 8. With the pedal up 0v should be measured. With the pedal down, the voltage should be 5v. If it is not, replace the switch. If the voltage is 5v, repeat the test at connector 355M (CN3-B) pin 11 at the TCU. If the voltage is OK swap the TCU and retest.
